February 20, 2008 - No. 4                                   Hancock Horse Breeders Group
It's Been a While, Hasn't It ????

Hello Again! Hancock Horses hopes all our members and readers are having a great 2008, and hope you all have a safe & rewarding foaling season this spring.

We welcome our new members. Have you placed a Hancock Horses Breeders Group Directory logo and link onto your website? Show your Hancock pride and let others know about HancockHorses.com. We have! You can go here to pick a Hancock Horses.com membership logo that best matches your website design.

You will find HancockHorses.com listed in the classified section of “The Western Horseman” magazine. We know that this is generating more hits for our members. Your advertising dollars spent on Hancock Horses will allow us to continue to promote this wonderful bloodline.

Speaking of promoting, here is The Big NEWS! ... We are looking forward to an article being written about HancockHorses.com by John L. Moore for the monthly AQHA members’ magazine “America’s Horse.” Mr. Moore is an active member of Hancock Horses and a published author of such works as “The Breaking of Ezra Riley,” "The World Famous Miles City Jaycee, Bucking Horse Sale (Collector's edition) and other books and a column for "Range Magazine" as well as articles for The Western Horseman Magazine, among others. We can’t tell you how pleased and flattered we are to have John dedicate his time and talent to us. We will let our readers know when this article is to be published, for those of you planning your advertising campaign for 2008.

The stallion ad page has been redesigned now to look more like a stallion directory. We feel this will contribute to a more uniform look and be easier & more inviting for website visitors to browse the stallions. This new format also allows a 4-generation pedigree to be included. (If your stallion ad does not include his pedigree, send it to Donna if you’d like).

The classified ad page is also designed a little more like a directory now, as well, similar to the stallion ad page.

New ad prices for 2008 are listed on the advertising info page. Donna is not able to take online payments quite yet, but hopefully by March 1st or shortly thereafter, look for online payment to be reinstalled. In the meantime, her mailing address can also be found on the advertising information page, and at the bottom of this newsletter, where you can send a check. Visit prices page for more information about advertising on HancockHorses.com for 2008.

More News

Visit Hancock Horses articles & history page for more cool old articles and photos, submitted by our members. The article, “What Makes the Hancocks Handy” is complete now: Lee Jones had & submitted the last page of that old April 1951 issue of the Quarter Horse Journal. We also received an old article about Little Black Joe, (thank you Sally Tvedt!) so we typed it up & added it to the Little Black Joe old photo page. We have also added another breeder spotlight article about Buck N Badger, standing at Olde Tyme Quarter Horses, Stockbridge, MI.

Reminders Worth Repeating:

Don't forget to check the Message Board! Our message board is a great way to ask about horses or bloodlines inquiring minds and astute breeders must know. It is an improved service now; much more fun and handy now to drop in & visit, see what is going on, and what people are talking about. Our forum board has become a little busier in the last couple months, and we would like to extend an invitation to everybody to use this message board as a way to connect with other breeders or ask questions…whether it’s about a favourite old time Hancock or where you can find that special horse you’ve always wanted. Or just post a note & tell us how you are using a Hancock horse you own or how a Hancock horse you’ve bred is being used by others, in our forum’s online poll.

Also don't forget our "offline" directory of Hancock Horse breeders - that list of Hancock breeders is located on the home page underneath the website links to breeders on the internet. If you don’t have a website and would like to be a member, please send us your name, address and email address or telephone number. Or if you know of a breeder that is not listed here, please tell them of our service so that they may be listed here.

Any of our offline breeders who need a website, Donna is layed off from one of her jobs at the present time, and with the article coming out in Americas Horse, she will be devoting more time to webdesign this year. Our website customers receive a free photo ad on one of our classifieds pages, and also useful "updated" signs on the main page directory for visitors' convenience.

Check out the new updates on Lazy M Quarter Horses, Eagle Pass TX; and working now on Tuf Hancock Horses, Prince George BC, and next Heritage Hancocks; AB; among others.

The next new webpage being created by HancockHorses.com will be Klueppel Quarter Horses in Kentucky. - some awfully nice folks, and some awfully good Hancock Horses that are going to be listed on these sites.

DON'T FORGET:

Our members are REALLY generous when it comes to submitting GREAT old historical articles & photographs of Hancock Horses! THANK YOU to all who have contributed! And, keep 'em comin'! What we can also use are articles & photos of Hancock Horses in use TODAY.

Does anyone have any old photos of any other "greats" that we don't have pictures of yet?

NEWSLETTER: We expect to email out this newsletter infrequently; only when time-sensitive announcements and newsworthy items of interest come up (it won't be annoyingly frequent). To unsubscribe, you must use the same subscription form (on the homepage), that you used to subscribe. (We cannot subscribe or unsubscribe you ourselves.)

APOLOGY:
Because of another untimely computer crash, (OK, what crash IS timely, right?) Donna would like to apologize for her prolonged absence, and the delayed response to webdesign, updates and advertisements. With her computers recent crash she lost programs, and precious information and emails. If you have not received a response to your email questions or requests for advertising let us know, yours may have been in that lost information.

Great Idea: Some time ago we were asked by a member to consider setting up a map on the website, in which all our members would be marked according to their location. This is a fantastic idea and it was this person’s idea that it would make planning a Hancock Horse road trip, setting up an itinerary to visit breeders! Wouldn’t that be fun? The only problem with this plan is that it would involve extensive HTTP – and since Donna’s computer fried again this winter, and she is running about 1 month behind on websites & updates, it will be a while til she gets enough time to start a project of that magnitude – but what a great idea for something in the future!
