Announcing the Article we've all been waiting for!

"Ranch Horse Legacy… The Blue Valentine Story"
by Baru Forell Spiller

Welcome! To our new members and newsletter subscribers. We have been very busy revamping the site to make it easier for our readers to navigate and find information. If you have any suggestions on how we can make visiting Hancock Horses more enjoyable or informative please let us know.

The Big NEWS! Hancock Horses would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Baru Spiller for her generous contribution of her previously published article "Ranch Horse Legacy…The Blue Valentine Story", which has appeared in the June 2004 Ranch Horse issue of the AQHA Journal and in the May 2005 Reining & Foundation issue of the Pacific Coast Journal, the official publication of the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association.

Baru's talent, hard work and dedication to the Blue Valentine family of the Hancock bred Quarter Horse, has reintroduced this wonderful bloodline to horse lovers around the world who use and breed American Quarter Horses. Her article has helped inspire new and experienced breeders alike, and has given new pride to those who love their Blue Valentine/Hancock bred horses. Baru's article "Ranch Horse Legacy… The Blue Valentine Story" can be viewed on our Articles and History page in its complete original (unabridged) form.

Along with this acclaimed article, we have also included an array of photographs of Blue Valentine get, grandget and influenced horses. Thanks to those of you who donated photos. (For those photos that do not have a credit listed, if any member or reader knows who took them, we would like to list a credit to the horse breeder, owner and/or photographer.)

Again, THANK YOU Baru!

Our next projects are lining up like this:

  • A NON-internet directory of Hancock Horse breeders. (Please submit any you know of.)

  • A page on Hancock Horses that have achieved official performance / achievement awards or earnings in the arena, show, ranch roping competitions, etc., thru AQHA, foundation associations, Rodeo Associations (amateur or professional), USTRC, mounted shooting associations, team penning associations, etc.

  • Present day unsung heroes... Hancock Horses working for a living but who do not receive official performance recognition or accreditation through AQHA etc.

  • All of which leads us to.....

WANTED: Any research our readers and members are willing to donate, in investigating and helping add to these lists of horses or folks to include on our Hancock Horses future webpages, would be awesome!

WANTED: We are always on the lookout for Hancock horse photographs - horses from the past are favourites with our readers, but today's horses, with accomplishments - are also welcome for submission.

WANTED: And although a photograph says a 1000 words, we still want to have a few words! So of course, we are always on the lookout for Hancock horse articles! Again, especially about horses from the past, but today's horses, with accomplishments, are also welcome for submission.

WANTED: What about other breeds besides just Quarter Horses? Do you know of any successful Hancock horse descendants that just happen not to be AQHA horses? This area is undeveloped in the directory too. If you run across any, let us know.

WANTED: More free Classified Ad submissions - they're free, what are you waiting for?  :o)

WANTED: More posts on the HancockHorses.com Bulletin Board! We plan to pay the fee to get all the forced annoying advertisements (floating flashlites etc.) off the Bulletin Board, because it is so fun and handy to visit and see what is going on, and what is on people's minds.

Do you have any other suggestions or ideas?

We are thankful for all your contributions, your kind words and encouragement.

Best Regards,

Donna Vickery, Bucking V Outfit, Montana

Michelle Thompson, Heritage Hancocks, Alberta
